Bookstore Cafe

This project challenged us to design for a client interested in opening a bookstore café. The site was located in the Villa Borghese park in Rome, Italy. The client we chose was the Sant' Eustachio Café, which is a famous café in Italy. We studied the process of coffee and through team diagraming, we focused on the purity of the coffee bean and the irregularity of the crack in the center of each one. This inspired us to create the floor plan and the minimalistic environment which holds the powerful stationary wall. This wall acts as the bookshelf, includes reading nooks and is the divider between the public spaces and the offices.
